Your Role at Pilgrim’s: A Day on the Road

 

As a Chick Delivery CDL Driver for Pilgrim’s, you are the vital link between our hatchery and our network of farm partners. Your primary responsibility is the safe and timely transport of newly hatched chicks. Your day involves a dynamic and physically demanding routine that is crucial to our supply chain’s success.

Your main tasks will include meticulously loading chick carriers onto the truck at our Broadway Hatchery, navigating to various grower farms throughout the region, and carefully placing the chicks in the prepared houses. After a successful delivery, you will return the empty carriers to the hatchery, where you will assist in washing and sanitizing them to prepare for the next cycle.

What Pilgrim’s Needs from You: Qualifications and Skills

 

To thrive in this role, you must be prepared for a physical job that requires skill, dedication, and a safety-first mindset. The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • Possess a valid CDL Class A license with a proven good driving record.

  • Have the ability to lift, push, and pull 100+ pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.

  • Demonstrate excellent decision-making skills and the ability to work independently.

  • Be capable of operating a manual commercial motor vehicle (CMV).

  • Be prepared to drive large trucks in all weather conditions, with the knowledge of how to chain wheels if necessary.

  • Must pass a DOT physical and maintain a drug-free record.

  • Have vision correctable to 20/20.

  • Basic mechanical aptitude is a plus for handling minor in-transit issues with the truck’s heating system.
