Your Role as a Field Sales Manager for McLane Company, Inc.

 

As the primary sales leader for your region, you will be the driving force behind our Field Account Representatives. Your mission is to recruit, mentor, and lead your team to exceed sales targets, secure profitable new business, and build unshakable customer relationships. This is a hands-on, travel-intensive role where your leadership will directly shape the success of your team and the company.

Location: Remote / Travel – Washington State
Salary: $80,000 – $85,000 per year + 15% annual incentive target

Key Responsibilities & Main Tasks

 

  • Recruit, hire, train, and provide daily motivation for a staff of Field Account Representatives.

  • Achieve and exceed assigned sales and gross margin budgets for the independent business sector.

  • Spend a minimum of 70% of your time traveling within your territory to work alongside your team and meet with customers.

  • Prospect for new business by arranging meetings with potential customers and responding to market opportunities.

  • Monitor and manage accounts receivable to ensure they remain within approved payment terms.

  • Evaluate customer sales data to maximize profitability and present clear, informative business reviews.

  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the convenience store market and competitor activities.

  • Train both customers and teammates on the use of McLane’s technology applications.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

 

Do you have what it takes to excel in this leadership role?

  • A bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of management experience, OR 5 years of management experience in grocery, sales, retail, or a related field.

  • In-depth understanding of the C-Store (Convenience Store) class of trade.

  • Proven experience in hiring, training, motivating, and managing a staff.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a professional demeanor.

  • A willingness to travel up to 75% within the assigned territory.

  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for safety and operational effectiveness.
