Job Title: Site Reliability Engineer (BMC Discovery Admin)
Location: Hybrid in St. Louis, MO
Salary: $40.00 – $60.00 per hour + comprehensive benefits package

Core Responsibilities and Main Tasks

 

Your primary focus will be on ensuring production readiness and unparalleled system reliability. Your day-to-day tasks will be critical to our operational success.

  • Administer and maintain the Linux-based BMC Discovery infrastructure, the core application for Configuration Management Inventory collection.

  • Troubleshoot complex network connectivity and credential issues across SSH, WMI, SNMP, and cloud provider APIs (AWS, Azure, GCP).

  • Lead the design and implementation of new solutions for on-premise, hybrid, and cloud environments.

  • Monitor system alerts, respond to failures with a sense of urgency, and conduct blameless postmortems to prevent future issues.

  • Develop and automate processes to improve reliability, deployment, and scalability using tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.

  • Collaborate globally with development, operations, and product teams to align priorities and champion a DevOps culture.

Your Profile: Qualifications for LaunchCode Success

 

We are seeking a driven individual with a systematic approach to problem-solving and a strong sense of ownership.

 

Required Experience & Skills:

 

  • BS degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience (4+ years).

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Linux/Unix system administration (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).

  • Proven experience administering BMC Discovery (ADDM) is ideal.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills for network, connectivity, and credential-based issues.

  • Security-first and customer-first mentality.

  • Experience with scripting languages like Bash, Python, or PowerShell.

  • A can-do attitude and a passion for process improvement and automation.

 

Preferred Credentials:

 

  • BMC Discovery Certification

  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Engineer (RHCE)

  • Experience with Splunk, Dynatrace, Docker, or Kubernetes

  • Knowledge of ITIL principles and ITSM tools like ServiceNow
